About Us

Friends of Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historic Park (FPOH) is incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, tax-exempt organization established under the laws of the state of Hawaiʻi for the purpose of providing support and assistance to the cultural, interpretive, resource management, visitor services and research activities of Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park.

 

Vision: We envision a park for the benefit and inspiration of all people, Friends of Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historic Park  protects the wahi pana (sacred place) and interconnected cultural and natural resources of the Hōnaunau, Kēōkea, and Kiʻilae ahupuaʻa, so traditional Hawaiian values and practices will thrive now and into the future.

 

FPOH was established with the mentorship and fiscal sponsorship of Friends of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Through grant funding from the National Park Foundation and other private funders, FPOH was founded on December 23, 2022.
